hi gies I just wanted to share my essay with you-

WALT: writing essays      crocodiles          by: Nicholas Bruni

Looming like a ghost through the murky waters of the Nile river, inching ever so closer to an unexpecting gazelle drinking at the edge of the river. Vanishing in a ripple of muddy water. The crocodile has evolved extremely deadly adaptations to kill its pray, and survive.

In order for crocodiles to kill their prey, crocodiles have to be fast and agile in the water. The crocodile’s tail muscle is extremely powerful. The tail moves in an S-shaped pattern to propel the reptile through the water.  When crocodiles are not moving forward they use their feet to paddle. Crocodile’s bodies are streamlined to make it easier to cut through the water, like a torpedo.

Crocodiles have to have a very strong defense and attack system in order to stay alive. A crocodile’s scales are made from keratin that almost coats the croc in armor. For greater defense  crocodiles can make their eyes go deeper into their sockets. The crocodile’s teeth are serrated and curve backwards. Crocodiles’ teeth are curved like this to make things easy to slide past but challenging to get out. On land the crocodile uses its thick tail to club other predators.

As the crocodile reaches the gazelle, with a flick of its thick tail it lunges forward. The crocodile’s serrated teeth dig deep into the neck of the gazelle. The gazelle desperately tries to get away by thrashing its head back and forth, but it is only making the teeth tear apart more flesh. The gazelle gives up from exhaustion and is dragged into the murky depths, drowning.

reading response letter

Hi guys,

Today I will be sharing my reading response letter with you. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you
are having an awesome day.

                                 reading response letter
Dragons, myths, friendship, betrayal and heart stopping moments. Dragon moon, a book by Carol Wilkinson, consists of all these occuring through out the book. Even though I have only just begun reading the book, it has already caught my attention and now I am wanting to continue reading at any given moment.
Dragon Moon has many thrilling events that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. While reading the book I made a prediction. The palace of the duke of Yan  was attacked by the empire of Lan, when the duke's men were losing in the battle, the Xing No (another empire miles away) came to their aid. When I read this I became suspicious. The Xing No's empire was miles away, which means that it would take days by foot to get there. When the forces of Yan were growing weak the Xing No immediately came to their rescue. What I think, is that the Xing No were sent by Lan to gain their trust to make it easier to attack the duke. I will have to keep reading to see if I'm right.

Though I have only begun  to read Dragon Moon, I am already hooked and I can't stop reading it.

That was my letter, and I hope you enjoyed it.  -Nicholas

              Darkness
A screeching noise rang within my ears. The sound of rusty door hinges scraping into themselves sending a high pitched noise into the evening air. I had no idea where it was coming from, but it seemed like no other person on the street could hear the ear splintering sound. The sound droned on and on, shattering my ear drums. I clenched my head trying to block the sound out as my knuckles turned white. Sweat dripped down my face, I felt like I was Mount Vesuvius about to erupt. My head felt as if the fuse for a bomb was almost done.
Suddenly the screeching was silenced and was replaced with a low rattling sound. My knees turned to stone as an invisible force pulled me forward. I tried to fight it, but I couldn’t summon the straight to do it. My blood went cold as I approached a large, dark mansion. The mansion was large and had a pointed roof. It was completely black, except for a few silver cobwebs. It had only one window at the top, all the other windows were boarded off. As I was inched closer, a reeking smell filled my nose. I gagged in disgust.  The doors opened to reveal pitch black darkness. Shocked I tried to yell but the wind took away my breath leaving me gasping on the ground. Trying to resist, I tripped and was left clinging on some shriveled weeds. A snake slithered out of the weeds and struck at my hand. Screaming I was sucked into the darkness, with my yells echoing in my head. The doors closed behind me as the snake slithered back into the weeds.
I awoke in a long hallway lit by torches. As I took a couple of steps forward more torches lit ahead of me, while torches blew out behind me. Stopping I turned around and tried to go back into the darkness, which I had come from. An invisible wall had pushed me back from my freedom, I stumbled backwards and realized the only way I could go…was forward. After what seemed like hours all the torches blew out, leaving me in darkness. The only light in the tunnel was a luminous glow. The black clothes, which I was wearing, looked almost invisible. Noticing a faint light around the corner, I darted forward towards it. Soon I found myself in a large room. As I took a step forward the hall behind me disappeared. I turned around shocked that the everlasting tunnel was now just a simple wall. Turning around I noticed the faint light.
I cut through the darkness towards it. When I reached it, I tried to open it more by kicking it as hard as I could. A shower of board fell upon me. When I looked back I realized that this was the room with the Giant window. The window was clear now revealing its shimmering glass and all its horrors. Through the window I could see my neighborhood. It was dead, lifeless and gray. Everything I knew friends, family, everything was dead. I fell to my knees horrified. After a few minutes my eyes fell upon a pile of wooden boards. Light was seeping through the cracks. I quickly picked up my feed and paced over to the spot. I dug my way through the boards and found a small passage way, this was my ticket to freedom.
The passage was small enough so that I could crawl through it. I started crawling into the small cannel. Before I knew it, I saw daylight around a turn. As I crawled towards it. Soon I relied that the tunnel was blocked off years ago with a brick wall. When I reached it, I taped it lightly in disbelief. Still taping the wall, a rumble came from the ceiling. Rocks fell behind me sealing me in. after a few brief moments sadness, anger, and shock filled me. They were bubbling in my chest, my mussels tightened. Strength flowed through my veins. I rammed the brick wall, then a second time. As I did this the rumbling returned, small pebbles and stones fell from the ceiling. My nose was bleeding and my arms felt weak, but I didn’t care. The rumbling got louder, bigger stones crumpled from the ceiling. Then with one last effort I slammed my entire force into the wall. The poorly built brick easily crumpled under the force of the blow, as the passage way behind me was sealed with boulders. Sunlight flooded my eyes. As I looked around, I was in my neighborhood. Instead of it being dead, it was alive and quite flourishing. I was relieved that everything was okay.
Waking up with a jump, my heart was going 20 miles a minute. The cat which was sleeping on my bed, meowed upon her awakening. After I had calmed down, I laid down in my bed and went back to sleep. My alarm clock struck 6:30 am and started to try to wake me up by making a screeching sound. The sound of rusty door hinges scraping into themselves. The cat pawed at the alarm clock setting it to “snooze”.  Suddenly the screeching sound was replaced with a low rattling sound. Then the room was coated in silence.
