My Essay

Walt writing a personal Persuasive essay      Cigarettes
 By Nicholas Bruni

Smoke drifts through the cool air, a burnt cigarette lies in the dirt, the embers still glowing a bright red. Cigarettes are foul and belong in the trash. Cigarettes are not only bad for the smoker themselves but also for the people around them. Cigarettes also contain the worst of ingredients making them deadly. Cigarettes are banned in most places and it’s even illegal to smoke in others, yet people still smoke.
Cigarettes are not only bad for the smoker, but for the people around them
and the smoke that a person can inhale from cigarettes is rancid.
Thousands of people die every year from smoking. Smoking hurts your lungs and heart each time you breathe in. This makes it more difficult for blood to move around in the body. The longer a person smokes, the worse the damage becomes. Smokers are ten times more likely to die than a person who does not smoke. Smoking also causes lung cancer, emphysema, strokes and heart attack.   Cigarettes contain the worst of ingredients that if the smoker knew, they would probably stop smoking for good. There are over 4,000 chemicals in a single cigarette; most of them are highly poisonous. Cigarettes mainly consist of naphthalene, which is used in moth repellent; acetone, which is used in nail polish remover and butane which is used in lighter fluid. Cigarettes also contain nicotine which is a poison that damages the mouth, throat and lungs. It also causes heart diseases and increases the danger of a heart attack. Smoking is unwelcomed and it’s illegal to smoke in certain places in many countries and should be stopped at the places that still allow smoking. Smoking becomes an addiction for people; they smoke without concern about the surroundings. Some people think smoking can reduce their tension and relax their mind.  Smoking in some countries is allowed at restaurants, hotels and also at the community centres. These places have many people. If there is a smoker at those places, people would be exposed to a number of health problems that the smoke can cause; such as inflaming our lungs and can also reduce the oxygen in our blood. Smoking at these places is dangerous and should be stopped immediately.Overall cigarettes are addicting, kill thousands of people yearly and have over 4,000 chemicals in it making it unhealthy and pointless. It should be stopped as soon as possible. If we don’t smoke and spread the word to stop, others will stop too and the cigarette companies will go out of business! The future can be smoke free and better, but it all up to us as a community!

book clubs

for our book club presentation we did  Bud not Buddy. I was Bud in the presentation. I also presented the heart. I think that we did good in acting. we needed to improve some things through. we needed to improve using perhaps some more technology and we needed to improve on better character focus.

WALT: writing essays      crocodiles          by: Nicholas Bruni

Looming like a ghost through the murky waters of the Nile river, inching ever so closer to an unexpecting gazelle drinking at the edge of the river. Vanishing in a ripple of muddy water. The crocodile has evolved extremely deadly adaptations to kill its pray, and survive.

In order for crocodiles to kill their prey, crocodiles have to be fast and agile in the water. The crocodile’s tail muscle is extremely powerful. The tail moves in an S-shaped pattern to propel the reptile through the water.  When crocodiles are not moving forward they use their feet to paddle. Crocodile’s bodies are streamlined to make it easier to cut through the water, like a torpedo.

Crocodiles have to have a very strong defense and attack system in order to stay alive. A crocodile’s scales are made from keratin that almost coats the croc in armor. For greater defense  crocodiles can make their eyes go deeper into their sockets. The crocodile’s teeth are serrated and curve backwards. Crocodiles’ teeth are curved like this to make things easy to slide past but challenging to get out. On land the crocodile uses its thick tail to club other predators.

As the crocodile reaches the gazelle, with a flick of its thick tail it lunges forward. The crocodile’s serrated teeth dig deep into the neck of the gazelle. The gazelle desperately tries to get away by thrashing its head back and forth, but it is only making the teeth tear apart more flesh. The gazelle gives up from exhaustion and is dragged into the murky depths, drowning.

reading response letter

Hi guys,

Today I will be sharing my reading response letter with you. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you
are having an awesome day.

                                 reading response letter
Dragons, myths, friendship, betrayal and heart stopping moments. Dragon moon, a book by Carol Wilkinson, consists of all these occuring through out the book. Even though I have only just begun reading the book, it has already caught my attention and now I am wanting to continue reading at any given moment.
Dragon Moon has many thrilling events that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. While reading the book I made a prediction. The palace of the duke of Yan  was attacked by the empire of Lan, when the duke's men were losing in the battle, the Xing No (another empire miles away) came to their aid. When I read this I became suspicious. The Xing No's empire was miles away, which means that it would take days by foot to get there. When the forces of Yan were growing weak the Xing No immediately came to their rescue. What I think, is that the Xing No were sent by Lan to gain their trust to make it easier to attack the duke. I will have to keep reading to see if I'm right.

Though I have only begun  to read Dragon Moon, I am already hooked and I can't stop reading it.

That was my letter, and I hope you enjoyed it.  -Nicholas
